A New Chapter in African Coffee: Tradition Meets Innovation

This coffee stands out as a groundbreaking example of innovation in African coffee, where time-honored methods blend seamlessly with bold experimentation. During fermentation, the beans are treated with a specific strain of yeast—a technique rarely seen on the African continent. This controlled process is designed to enhance both the quality and consistency of flavor, producing a cup with bright citrus notes and layered complexity.

While natural and washed methods dominate traditional African processing, the use of yeast fermentation represents an exciting evolution. By guiding the fermentation process more precisely, producers unlock new flavor dimensions, elevating the already vibrant profiles African coffee is known for. The result is a cup that’s both familiar and refreshingly different—ideal for those eager to explore the cutting edge of specialty coffee.

This particular lot is a unique expression of innovation rooted in heritage. It reflects not only the rich legacy of African coffee but also a forward-thinking approach that embraces quality, experimentation, and the future of the craft.

At the heart of this transformation is Agri Evolve, established in 2016 with a bold mission: to serve as a reliable collection point for both DRUGAR (Dried Ugandan Arabica) and ripe cherries in Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains. In the beginning, most local farmers processed their coffee independently—drying cherries on tarps under the sun. While DRUGAR was easier to source, shifting the mindset toward harvesting and selling ripe cherries was a major hurdle.

But change came quickly. With heavy investment in modern processing equipment, demonstration farms, and skilled staff, Agri Evolve made significant progress within just two years. The volume and quality of ripe cherries soared, paving the way for a more refined and consistent coffee offering.

Today, Agri Evolve’s state-of-the-art facilities include washer-separators, mechanical dryers, hulling machines, and solar-powered greenhouses. These upgrades have dramatically improved coffee quality and strengthened Agri Evolve’s reputation among local farmers.

More importantly, Agri Evolve has become a trusted partner in the community, known for paying fair prices on time—a simple but powerful practice that has changed lives. Through innovation, investment, and genuine collaboration, Agri Evolve continues to lead the transformation of coffee production in the Rwenzori Mountains, shaping a more sustainable and promising future for Ugandan coffee.
