Find out more about this coffee:

This coffee offers a crisp, clean profile with a bright, refreshing acidity reminiscent of green apple. Delicate notes of dried fruit and apricot lend a gentle sweetness, balanced by rich undertones of cacao nibs and baker’s chocolate. Hints of black tea and brown sugar add a smooth, structured complexity, while a subtle touch of spice rounds out the cup. Its soft, rounded mouthfeel creates a harmonious and satisfying drinking experience.

Nestled in the scenic Phoka Hills of Northern Malawi, the Phoka Coffee Cooperative cultivates coffee at altitudes between 1,300 and 2,500 meters. The region’s temperate climate and steady rainfall provide ideal conditions for coffee farming in villages like Chakaka, Mphachi, Salawe, and Junju, close to Nyika National Park.

Established in 2019 after separating from the Mzuzu Coffee Association, the cooperative now partners with Satemwa Tea and Coffee for milling, grading, and export. This collaboration ensures Phoka’s coffee is expertly processed and ready for international markets.

Phoka Coffee is deeply rooted in its community, focusing on sustainable farming practices. Farmers are trained in selective harvesting and proper cherry processing at local washing stations. From there, the coffee is transported to Satemwa for final processing and quality testing before export.

With a commitment to both quality and community empowerment, Phoka Coffee Cooperative continues to elevate Malawian coffee while supporting the livelihoods of its farmers.
