👨🌾 The Story Behind the Coffee
First things first: decaf should still taste like proper coffee, not like sadness. This one is built to be an excellent cup without the caffeine, designed to energise you without keeping you up at night.
“Tumbaga” is named after an alloy of gold, copper, and silver used across Colombia for small objects. It symbolically balances opposites (sun and moon), which is a great metaphor for a decaf that still feels lively and complete.
Unlike many decafs that start with older coffees, Tumbaga begins with high-quality coffee sourced through an integrated supply chain. Because decaffeination can amplify sweetness and acidity, the sourcing teams deliberately look for coffees with high body, high sweetness, and low acidity so the final cup stays balanced and chocolatey.
Colombia’s climate diversity also helps keep the Tumbaga profile consistent year-round. Sourcing typically follows harvest timing, generally pulling from Tolima or Cauca in summer months, and Antioquia or Eje Cafetero regions in winter months, supporting consistency at accessible prices while backing producer resilience.
There’s also a tangible give-back baked in: every bag purchased contributes to a Farmgate Initiative project.
