Day 8. Brazil - Cerrado Mineiro

This Brazil Cerrado Mineiro Natural coffee is a smooth, sweet Arabica grown in one of Brazil’s most respected specialty regions. Naturally processed, it delivers classic notes of chocolate and nuts with a balanced body and clean finish. The consistent 15/16 screen size ensures even roasting.

Brazil produces nearly 40% of the world’s coffee, and with such scale comes enormous diversity from commodity-grade lots to exceptional specialty microlots. Over the last decade, Brazilian producers have increasingly invested in quality-driven farming and processing, supported by strong regional organisations and improved traceability. Through this shift, regions like Cerrado Mineiro have risen to global prominence for their consistently high standards.

Cerrado Mineiro, located in the state of Minas Gerais, is known for its rich, well-drained soils and a climate marked by clearly defined wet and dry seasons, conditions ideal for natural processing. Coffee is typically grown between 800 and 1,300 metres above sea level, where a stable climate allows cherries to ripen evenly and dry slowly after harvest. As a result, coffees from this region tend to be sweet, smooth and full-bodied.

Much of Brazil’s coffee is grown on large, gently sloping farms where mechanical harvesting is common. Modern harvesters are now far more selective than in the past, allowing producers to pick predominantly ripe cherries and achieve quality levels that once required extensive hand-picking. In areas where machinery is impractical, farmers often use “manual mechanised” tools like vibro-rakes to harvest ripe cherries efficiently while still maintaining good quality control. Thanks to these advances, more and more Brazilian producers are able to focus on cup character as well as volume.

This particular lot is a naturally processed, NY 2/3 grade Arabica, packed in GrainPro/Ecotact for maximum freshness. The 15/16 screen size offers excellent uniformity, making it ideal as a dependable blend component or as a single-origin with broad appeal.

Expect a cup that’s chocolatey, nutty, sweet and smooth — perfect for medium to dark roasts and a favourite in both espresso and filter brews.
